Are you new?

It does make sense for someone of some fortune to have a pianoforte in their home even if none of the family members could do it justice. I can understand it being a prop--er, furniture :-) But it does make it more portable than, say, a pipe organ :-)

Still, the placement of the Middleton pianoforte was very fortuitous indeed, for without it, Col Brandon wouldn't be hearing Marianne's musical talents.
