Mrs. Dashwood is 40 now and has a 19-year-old daughter, so she would have been married by age 20 at the latest. So yes, she has been married at least half her life. She does not come from a priviledged family, though, because we know that she brought "nothing" (in terms of money or dowry) into her marriage to Mr. Dashwood. Her married life must have had more luxury than she was raised with, or there would have been at least some small amount of money for her to bring into a marriage. My impression has always been that he married her out of romantic love and without any consideration of her social status or wealth, and that this is part of the reason that she does not consider either of these two things as reasons why anyone would not wish to marry her daughters.

As to whether a change is inevitable for Marianne, it's hard to say. She and Elinor have had the same upbringing and yet they have totally different approaches. Elinor is not much older, and there's no hint that she was like Marianne when she was 17. Mrs. Dashwood does not seem to have 'grown up' very much in that sense.
