We see a lot of Marianne in Mrs Dashwood.
Barbara's post (I have given the link) shows IMO a kind of similarity in both the daughter and an adult mother's behaviour.

Mrs Dashwood is also quite sure of her thoughts. Words like - convinced, speedily comprehended, certain etc etc which may not be as passionately absolute as Marianne's never, but both seem to be speaking from the same platform.

Yes they differed during the flannel and age of the col discussion but that is what I mean when I say that this attitude will transfer itself to different subjects as she grows older, if she doesn't learn.
