Are you new?

I wonder if Lady Middleton asked for Marianne to repeat the song so that Sir John could hear it properly? I was thinking that sometimes people would say, "Listen to this, dear! We'll play it again, and listen."

I would not venture to guess as to what Lady M's state of mind is, but I'm ambivalent about whether she was the pot calling the kettle black, or whether she, as the gracious hostess, was simply trying to let her husband know that he was missing a good song that one of their guests was playing, and that, in a strange sorta way, was an indirect compliment to Marianne?
