Some more thoughts.   Written by Reeba (9/9/2009 4:07 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yes, I mentioned..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

Sorry for going on about it, but Colonel Brandon was my focus in the last GR and is also in this one as it is not easy to unearth his hidden qualities at one go, as I have discovered. :-)

Marianne comments;
"Did not you hear him complain of the rheumatism? and is not that the commonest infirmity of declining life?"

"and with me a flannel waistcoat is invariably connected with the aches, cramps, rheumatisms, and every species of ailment that can afflict the old and the feeble."

Marianne thinks that the Colonel's rheumatism is because of declining life, whereas his ailment may very well have originated from some injury during his days in the army.
Any injury can result in such pains especially in winter/cold weather (I have an example of my own brother in this matter).

So I am happy to see the colonel suffering from the result of some sort of bravery rather than declining life. :-D
