.. or something very like it. Thank you for posting it Barbara, and for explaining Marianne's behaviour more lucidly than I could.

I have to keep reminding myself that Marianne is just an idealistic teenager. Will she calm down as she grows up? I would like to think so, but her mother has managed to retain her Sensibility at the ripe old age of forty, perhaps because she has led a protected existence in which nothing occurred to burst the bubble. Maybe time will tell...
