An Inheritance Question   Written by BarbaraB (9/7/2009 11:14 p.m.)
Are you new?

We learn that Mrs. Jennings has had a nice income settled upon her, most likely by her husband's will for her lifetime. Would it have been possible for Uncle Dashwood to do something similar for the Dashwood women? That is, to allow them the lifetime use of Norland estate with it reverting to the male descendents either upon the final death or marriage? This is probably a stretch but curious about some alternate or creative way that they could have stayed at Norland as their home without it leaving the male line.
