Cost of servants   Written by Gina Marie (9/7/2009 1:48 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The servants are an interesting factor, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

Unfortunately, I have returned the book I read this in to the library so I can't give a direct quote but I read that in JA's times that goods were costly but service was worth much less.

In comparison, today is the opposite. You can buy inexpensive things all day long but personal services are worth quite a lot.

It makes it even trickier to try to me to try and imagine a modern day equal budget.
