...now or later. We're not going to talk about later until later, but even now, her behaviour could really not be described as 'high spirits' or 'vitality' even at a stretch. Passionate is not the same as either of these two words. Neither does a dislike of social conventions have anything to do with being vivacious or high-spirited.

I would stick with the adjectives Jane Austen chose for her, including being enthusiastic about what interests her and knowing no moderation in either her joys or her sorrows.
