Marianne and the perfect man   Written by Carol J. (9/6/2009 4:14 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Marianne's wishes, penned by Outi
Are you new?

I agree here. At this stage in the story, is there ANY man ANYWHERE who could meet Marianne's standards? (Unless it is Mr. Darcy!) And in setting these standards, Marianne is perhaps overlooking some character traits that would be important to a more mature young woman.

I hate to admit it, but I do see a little of the younger me in Marianne when she is critical of Edward. As a teen, and even in my younger 20s, my standards for a man were different from what they were in my mid 20s. And now, 20 years later, my standards would be even different still.
