I totally agree with your admiration of Elinor's character, and have a corresponding impatience with the self-indulgent sensibility of Mrs Dashwood and Marianne.

My preference for Elinor's way of being amounts pretty much to a prejudice. This is not a good thing, so during the GR I'll be looking out for examples of how these approaches to life play out in practice. Perhaps Elinor's self-command and consideration have their downsides, and maybe I'll find cases where feeling at the expense of thinking results in a better outcome.

We shall see...
