can she not bear to share her good fortune with them, if she had her way she would take away what's theirs.

On one hand, I'm somewhat tempted to feel sorry for her poverty of personality. There must be something missing in her life that she feels the need to be so grasping. On the other hand, she's so good at taking care of herself, & so willing to make others unhappy, I have little compassion for her.
