Imperfect articulation, insistence on his own way, "many cunning tricks,etc." are fetching in small quantities, but large servings might have tired the old gentleman. I bet Fanny & John made sure to dose Mr. Dashwood with judicious amounts of little Harry, withdrawing him before his petulance & antics went from cute to annoying.
