On their accomplishments...   Written by Mandy N (10/27/2006 2:18 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Dashwood Sisters (Chapter 42 to 50) Long, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

Yes, the Dashwood sisters are both good-hearted and intelligent. As a suggestion, JA used the point of their accomplishments to show how their approaches to life differ
for much of the story.
Elinor's art-drawing- requires attention to what is external to the self. Marieanne's art- music- allows for stong expression of feelings.
Now you point it out, how pleasant these sisters cheer for the other's good fortune; in contrast, Lucy fakes sensibility for her own selfish purposes. Where Elinor and Marieanne are tender, Lucy is hard and a bad influence on her weak-minded sister.

Thankyou for your Focus posts on Sister Relationships, Robbin.
They have contributed much discsussion for our group read.
