Are you new?

Miss Steele's attachment to the doctor to be of her own thinking. He might have been a very nice man who thought Miss Steele a pleasant old maid, and enjoyed conversing with her and perhaps flattering his vanity a bit, but as no one else has seen the doctor, I think it's safe to assume that the attachment was one-sided.

Poor Nancy.
