in love at that time.

And as the years passed, and she grew older, the reality of her situation as not such a good catch must have hit her, and the whole thing turned into an effort of securing him.

After all, she sees her older sister at an age where there are no prospects at all, and still unmarried.

Honestly speaking I don't blame women at that time trying to secure there future :)
