Elinor’s comfort   Written by Robbin (10/21/2006 4:14 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Different relationships...Steele sisters - Dashwood sisters., penned by Mandy N
Are you new?

I agree Mandy N, Elinor must take some comfort that Edward tried to end his engagement, I do not think she would not think she was not a part of his desire to do so. I do not think it would make Elinor feel any better for Edward’s future happiness however because it only confirms what she had thought for sometime--that Lucy is not an honest person and the likelihood of any esteem Edward has for her outliving the more intimate realizations of her character inevitable in a marriage is not very probable.

I was glad to see Marianne’s realization of Elinor’s efforts to comfort her while having no one to comfort herself under a similar heart-breaking situation. I also like that Marianne realizes that she has been unfair to Elinor and she seems to be giving Elinor credit for having suffered as much as she. There is hope for Marianne and Elinor at this point. I think sharing what has happened with Marianne does help Elinor to feel less alone even though Marianne is not quite up to stuff she is trying. (;D)
