Lovely Devon and JA resource...   Written by Mandy N (10/21/2006 5:42 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Dawlish, penned by Jan
Are you new?

Such beautiful watercolours and photos of Dawlish cottages with interesting information on the history of Dawlish as a seaside resort.
I'm sure fashionable Dawlish represented the entire shire of Devon to Robert Ferras. ;)

I've read in Tomalin, Revd. Austen was an enthusiastic tourist, keen to visit Devonshire's resorts.

I notice in the picture of the ladies on the cliff; there are bathing machines on the beach...I wonder if they were going down the cliff to seabathe.

The C19th seascapes with your photos, map and engravings interwine to present us a vividly clear picture of JA's Devon, past and present.

Jan, thankyou so much for continual additions to your site to as our group read has progressed through Sense & Sensibility.

Excuse my raptures- but you have created a wonderful site.
:)
