Are you new?

...a trade-in of sorts? Could the Dashwoods have been trading in their older, more outdated jewelry, "exchanging" them for newer, more fashionable pieces?

Or, could the pieces in question be new; perhaps they were not to the Dashwoods' liking, and they were returning them to Gray's and getting something else??
