I had read that differently   Written by Kara M (10/19/2006 2:02 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, My impressions of Ch. 35, penned by Mandy N
Are you new?

I thought Lucy was aluding to her own engagement to Edward since Marianne was trying to puch Elinor and Edward together here. And thus trying to make everyone uncomfortable. I thought Lucy probably assumed that Elinor told her sister about the engagement since she herself did not keep confidences when it suited her not too. (ie telling Elinor that she was engaged to Edward)

But I think you may be right. Your explaination seems to make more sense. It's no wonder Elinor gets angry. Lucy is certainly very cruel. Thanks
