I think Jane Austen made Colonel Brandon an interesting, unconventional and flawed character when she wrote him. I have never needed convincing on that score! I think he has qualities and quirks enough without looking for others that are not suggested by or are even contradicted by what Jane Austen wrote.

As I said, by all means, dislike him just as much as you choose to, as others have done before you.
