Nice resonance between the image of Miss "Steele"... Written by Delories (10/17/2006 7:22 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I just love Miss Steele, penned by Kara M

...and the steel needles in the huswife.

At least, I've always assumed they were steel needles, but perhaps someone more up on L&T could tell me if steel needles were common by that time. I know metal pins were (although a lot more expensive than they are now).
