Hmmm   Written by Barbara (10/15/2006 3:11 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yes, but ..., penned by James S.
Are you new?

...if you wish to make the argument, despite any proof in the novel

-that Colonel Brandon renamed a 3 year old child after her mother,

-that he fell in love with Marianne at first sight even though there is evidence in the novel that he didn't,

-that he could have won over her initial indifference to him and dislike of him in the four days or less he spent in her company before Willoughby swept her off her feet, and before he had even decided if he wanted to court her

--then you are granted the privilege of disliking the colonel as much as you wish.
