I think depends on the manner   Written by Tracy W (10/14/2006 4:57 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Attitudes to Pregnancy, penned by Pennie
Are you new?

I think the appropriateness of pregnancy talk depended on the manner.

In _Per_ and P&P news of pregnancy (Mrs Wallis and Charlotte Collins) is passed along by euphemism.

But I can't think of an example of someone who is not portrayed as a bit vulgar talking as openly as Mrs Jennings does about pregnancy. So maybe it wasn't quite appropriate.
