It's the struggle that's important   Written by Pennie (10/12/2006 11:33 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, A 'dangerous' subject, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

I always have trouble with this too. Sometimes I think he's justified, other times I think he should have told Marianne.

I also really find my heart aches for him in what he has had to go through in making the decision to come forward with this information.

I think the important part here is the 'making the decision part'. He thought long and hard as to what would be best for Marianne, and on both times he went to speak to Elinor he tried to 'suss out' the appropriateness of doing so. He lets Elinor tell Marianne as he realises it would sound better coming from her.

CB doesn't make flippant comments and decisions like Willoughby does. Instead he thinks his actions through properly.
