I am not sure if I should start an own thread about this, or if it is ok to write it here. But money and peoples income is very often discussed in JA books, and here we are blatanly informed of Miss Grey's income. Was this commonplace of the time? I would think it rather vulgar an object to discuss? And how did they know it? Where there tax records as is today?
