Edward's mood swings   Written by Tom P2 (10/11/2006 9:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Edward doesn't seem to have openly courted Elinor, penned by Tracy W
Are you new?

Well, Tracy W, for one post I think you have done pretty well. You have already shown that Willoughby's attaching behaviour went further than Edward's. Another paragraph will suffice to point out the importance of Edward's mood swings, and then I can have nothing farther to add to this thread.

Edward struggles against his hopeless inclination toward Elinor, with mixed success, hence the alternation between warm lively talk and cool reserve. Willoughby ignores the fact that he's "all to pieces", and attends so consistently to Marianne that he neglects the rest of his company.
