John & Fanny do not deserve respect…   Written by Robbin (10/9/2006 3:46 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Elinor's testing..., penned by Mandy N
Are you new?

I agree for all the reasons you state and looking at my post I feel I put my idea on this rather badly. ;D I do not remember Elinor speaking of or having any thoughts of respecting John and Fanny so I really can only guess if she actually has any for them—I would guess no. I meant to say Elinor treats John (and Fanny too) with respect which I suppose equates to being civil and giving them the proper attention a brother deserves not that she actually respects them as people—does that make more sense? ;D I think after they left Norland with their father’s request unanswered John forfeits his brotherly right to respect but Mrs. Dashwood told her daughters before they went to London she could not bear to have them wholly estranged from their brother (Chapter 25) so I am not so sure Elinor will treat him with the distain he deserves although I would like to see it—perhaps I can count on Marianne to pick up the slack. :D
