Great map & wonderful pictures-- thanks !   Written by Mandy N (10/6/2006 7:03 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Some information re: Exeter, penned by Jan
Are you new?

I am with Ann 2 and Robbin, this map of Exeter c. 1800 is great !

Gush ! I've been pouring all over these pictures.
Lovely intricate engravings. The butcher's stall engraving and painting of the market place show much detail of daily life in Exeter in 1800.

Personally, I think the painting of river and hills show Devon as a place of natural beauty.

The bits of S&S info. in relation to S&S is interesting and relevant reading.
My current impression is Sir John visited Exeter quite alot.

Thankyou indeed for the new page and your research into Devon, S&S and Jane Austen. :)
