Opposites attracted?   Written by Ann2 (10/6/2006 6:26 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lady Middleton & Charlotte Palmer (chapters 17 to 25), penned by Robbin
Are you new?

Charlotte obviously takes after her mother. Kindhearted and silly. I wonder if Mr Jennings was more like his oldest daughter.

Reading your comparison of Mrs Jenning's daughters it struck me that the eldest has married a man like her sister, jovial and talkative, eager to approve of most any company. Whereas Charlotte has married a man much like Lady Middleton*, a cold selfcentered fish with very little or no apparent interest in any company.

Or is it to show that although Mrs Jennings has found husbands for her daughters, she has not been very careful in her choices?

* Do we ever learn the Christian name of sir John's wife? It sure is a clever way to keep her at a distance, always mentioning her as Lady Middleton.
