Elinor wasn't really given to vanity, she was always so practical and full of common sense. Also, she was so not sure of Edward and was puzzled by his behaviour. I agree with you that it was a fair conclusion to come to that it was hers, but what fascinated me was the opinion in the articles above. It made me wonder. I mean, I think it's a fair conclusion and one I accepted reading, but what made me think twice is that it was never hers!
