Interesting   Written by Barbara (10/4/2006 2:23 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Dr. Johnson is "nice" rather often, I feel, penned by Laraine
Are you new?

One of the books I was looking at for this read had a long, long piece about how Johnson defined the words 'sense' and 'sensiblity', and I was wondering exactly how relevant that was to our purposes.

It's interesting to know that he was a real purist. I do not mind at all that JA wasn't :-) And besides, the so-called 'low' usage is not really very low if JA and all the others you mention used the word that way!
