Elinor, deeply absorbed in some drawing, with her hair falling in locks down her back, and Edward Ferrars sneaking quietly up and cutting a lock without her notice.

My own husband went through a stage of delighting in sneaking up on me, and while he never cut a lock of my hair, I could imagine a more romantically-inclined bloke managing it.
