The word "sensible"

The word "sensible" Written by Tom P2 (10/2/2006 6:24 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Agreed and also the..., penned by Moni

Wasn't the common usage of the word "sensible" changing at the time JA wrote S&S, from the established "having sensibility" to the modern "having common sense"? She plays with it in S&S, rather like the way she plays with "nice" in NA.
