I think he is pretty hilarious. And that is just about enough reason for me to like him. It took Hugh Laurie's example to show how funny Mr. Palmer is. He also serves as a wonderful foil for his wife. The best characters in JA's books are the rediculous ones. Mrs. Palmer reminds me a bit of Anne's sister Mary from Persuasion. Both of them get big laughs when I read aloud to DH.
