Wicked London   Written by James S. (10/1/2006 3:45 p.m.)
Are you new?

I'm a bit unsatisfied with the men of S&S.

** we have a man in glum spirits, with a secret, who rides to London (Colonel Brandon)

** we have a man in glum spirits, with a secret, who rides to London (Willoughby)

** we have a man in glum spirits, with a secret, who rides to Barton Park, presumably direct from London (Edward Ferrars)

I hope theses men don't collide on the same road.

London, of course, is Mr.Wickham'favorite address.

Only Edward seems free of this moral stain. Brandon has a daughter there, presumably. Willoughby has a sugar mommy there.

What is interesting is that JA has let the plot go slack. Not much is happening. An interlude. The men are gone. The women are left to themselves at Barton Park. Mrs. Jennings chatters on. Sir John has three topics he can discuss. And Lady Middleton ... well.

JA lulls us into repose before the arrival of the Palmers and Miss Lucy Steele (my favorite character).
