Thanks, the pictures do help to get the point across and they are beautiful to boot; I enjoyed them and your post very much. All three pictures, The Italian landscape with the twisted tree, The Falls of the Rhine at Schaffhausen, and Peasant’s hut between Naples and Portici all have that untamed quality that Marianne admires, I think Marianne herself is also a little untamed. I think Edward does understand picturesque ideas or he could not tease Marianne so effectively. I thought Edward was quite the charmer in this scene, although I am sure he would never say so himself—I suppose his friends will just have to tell him. Thanks! :D
