reminded Elinor of her parting with Edward? When they left Norland, everything was very calm. There seemed to be little evidence of strong regard on either side.

Now, Marianne's lover has left, with a great deal of fluster. It is obvious, has been from the beginning, that she and Willoughby cared greatly for one another. It must stand in stark contrast to Elinor's own parting with the man with whom she had been falling in love. And now her position is still unsettled, she has no idea if Edward returned her regard, or even if she will ever see him again.

Such a contrast!
