I wondered about that myself . . .   Written by Mary Anne (9/28/2006 9:58 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Is Elinor being honest..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

"I hope not, I believe not," cried Elinor."I love Willoughby, sincerely love him; and suspicion of his integrity cannot be more painful to yourself than to me."

Is this our calm, self-controlled Elinor?! It's logical enough to think she may have said this simply to satisfy her mother, and yet . . . hmmmmm. There's a part of me that can believe Elinor does love Willoughby in the sense of having a sisterly affection for him, enjoying his company, etc. More of that charm at work? If so, then it's powerful stuff indeed.
