I agree everything about the gift of Queen Mab seems to be inappropriate, the practical aspects of it and the allusions associated with horses, the horses name, even how the horse came to be. I think Barbara is right, JA does not reference things without a reason--it is a bucketful of clues to Willoughby's character and intentions and like him, the gift’s flaws and inappropriateness is thinly veiled as generous, honorable, and heroic. :D
