Marieanne's admirer. :)   Written by Mandy N (9/27/2006 12:02 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Marianne's preserver - enter Willoughby! Lovely passage., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

I wonder if JA borrowed her many extravagent, flowery phrases to describe Willoughby from the Picturesque. She gushes praises of 'youth, beauty and elegance'.

I like the bit where Marieanne thinks of all manly dresses 'a shooting-jacket was the most becoming'.

I so agree Willoughby seems perfectly matched to Marieanne's taste in poetry and pictures.
Not to mention a rainy landscape (adds atmosphere) for a gallant rescue. ;)

He really knows how to fascinate Marieanne !

Thanks Reeba, a wonderful post.
