that he is clearly looking after her? I agree, you would think it would alter Elinor's opinion of him, but I do not think we ever get to hear her thoughts on the matter, and she carries on as before in how she behaves towards him. Perhaps you are right that she does not necessarily believe it, but even if she did, he appears to some advantage by being so obviously concerned and involved with her.
