Does the "in" make a difference?   Written by Ann2 (9/26/2006 5:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Which sister is taller?, penned by Maisy
Are you new?

To a foreign ear the little word in seems to refer to "her form"

Her form, though not so correct as her sister's, in having the advantage of height, was more striking.

Meaning Marianne is taller

Had that word been left out, I would read as if the advantage of height was referring to "her sister's form"
Her form, though not so correct as her sister's [form], having the advantage of height, was more striking.

This would make Elinor the taller one...

Is this all wrong?
