in CH 13;

"He was afraid of catching cold, I dare say, and invented this trick for getting out of it.I would lay fifty guineas the letter was of his own writing."

Here he has said exactly what Marianne had said earlier on, before she met Willoughby, about his wearing a flannel jacket because of his old-age infirmity, and Willoughby seems to be hinting at his age here too.
In addition he wants to say that Brandon is a liar.

They are right. They do think alike.

He seems to have charmed only Marianne.
I don't find him charming at all.
