I guess I would just rather think that Elinor was taller than Marianne. It makes sense to me to think that Elinor was taller and thinner and more perfect, whereas Marianne was a bit more 'tumbled' and shorter and curvier with a tiny bit more spark. Certainly it seems like the film adaptations have taken this tack more or less.
