I read this as Marianne being taller than Elinor   Written by Barbara (9/25/2006 8:52 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, L&T: What was considered a "correct" form?, penned by Line
Are you new?

"Her form, though not so correct as her sister's, in having the advantage of height, was more striking;"

Though Marianne's form was not as correct as Elinor's (I'm not sure what that means either!), Marianne's form was more striking because she had the advantage of height.

Marianne's height made her more striking than Elinor, even though Elinor had a more correct form.

Perhaps Elinor's figures was more along the classical lines and proportions, as you suggest. Marianne, if she's taller, may possibly also not have as correct a posture as Elinor too.
