Mrs Jennings' ample jointure.   Written by Mandy N (9/21/2006 1:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, As I understood it, penned by JulieW

If I've correctly followed through this interesting discussion, Mrs Jennings 'ample jointure' is a generous income settled on her for life, presumably by the terms of her husband's will.
However, does this necessarily mean Mrs Jennings is in charge of the family's money ?
Perhaps the family fortune is held in Trust with Mrs Jennings as a beneificary, drawing a generous income from it.
