But I just noticed a similarity between Mrs Jennings and Marianne - they both are extremely rapid in jumping to conclusions.
. She was remarkably quick in the discovery of attachments, and had enjoyed the advantage of raising the blushes and the vanity of many a young lady by insinuations of her power over such a young man; and this kind of discernment enabled her soon after her arrival at Barton decisively to pronounce that Colonel Brandon was very much in love with Marianne Dashwood. (chpt 8)
"I shall very soon think him handsome, Elinor, if I do not now. When you tell me to love him as a brother, I shall no more see imperfection in his face, than I now do in his heart." (chpt 5).
Interesting how Marianne, with all the advantages of education Mrs Jennings seems to lack, still jumps to conclusions with great rapidity.
