On second thought I have more questions on the cottage.   Written by Therése (9/20/2006 5:01 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The 'defective' cottage, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

I am not english so I have had some trouble as to know the different use of rooms. Parlour, drawing room, sitting room (not mentioned in this book, but I have often heard it: living room) and offices. What were they for?

I can't imagen for example that they had a whole room just for drawing and painting in? I've imagined that the sitting room is a more informal room to sit and read in, chat and so on, and the parlour being more elegant and more for entertaining guests in. But then sometimes there is talk of breakfast room and so on, oh my, I get so confused.
