in consequence of the missive, A Lady's Imagination is very rapid..., penned by Deborah d'Bajor
I think Mrs. Dashwood’s and Marianne’s ability to self-deceive is great because they have such strong views on what is right, say what should come of an attraction, especially Marianne, that they never stop to ponder Elinor may see things differently than they do till she says it. They are so eager after all! I think Mrs. D also has little self-deceptions about keeping the carriage and improving Barton Cottage as well as the imminent marriage of Elinor and Edward. The thing about Mrs. D and Marianne is that although I find them frustrating at times and amusing at times they are so good hearted and affectionate their mistakes prompt an “Oh dear” as well as a “Not again!” :D
